Length: 1.5 m.
Height: 60-90 cm. Weight: 135 kg.
Habitat: forest, marshlands, mountain
Omnivorous, the black bear eats from insects to large mammals, including household garbage, carcasses and plants. In autumn, he fattens up and hides in a cavern or under a fallen tree, where he sleeps several months, counting on the fat reserves for survival. The black bear does not hibernate, in the strict sense of the term; the temperature of its body does not fall drastically and it comes out of its sleep from time to time to go for a walk. The kids are born in January. Small, they weigh 250 g. at birth.
