The Blue Heron is native to Breeches Lake although they are rather private birds and only fly along the shorelines of the lake. Their flight is majestic and very elegant, but you need a very good camera and fast reflexes if you wish to take a good picture of the bird. Their nest is usually either at the head of the lake near the marshland or near the dam. But do not try to find their nest as they will move away from Breeches if they feel threatened. It is a large bird (1 m to 1.3 m in length) and their wing span can reach 2.5 m. It is the only crane that we usually see at Breeches.
