The Cedar Waxwing is easy to recognize for their neat little crests, their soft colour and their gentle disposition. The chocolate-brown plumage is soft and silky, with traces of pink and mauve in it here and there. There is some gray in its wings and darker gray in the tail with a bright yellow band at the end. The bird has a black chin and a brief black line running up from the base of the bill through the eye to the edge of the crest. The one thing these lovely birds lack is a fine song. Their voice is a slurred series of soft notes that sounds like a strin of beads.
