Meadowrue (Thalictrum polygamum)

The plant rears itself to a height of from 3 to 11 feet and is common in wet meadows and in most ditches along roadsides.

The peculiar thing about the cream-white or pure-white flower clusters is that the colour is not provided by petals but by the white filaments or "shafts" of the stamens of the little individual flowers, which have no petals at all.
