You can almost guarantee that if you see a small bird moving down the trunk of a tree head-first, it is a Nuthatch. It is a regular visitor at Breeches, with a black cap, blackish tips to wing and tail feathers, blue-gray above and white underneath. It will eat nuts and seeds but it lives largely on insects that it finds in the bark of trees. It is a permanent resident at Breeches and you will see it during the Winter time.
