The red fox is not always red. Black foxes, silver foxes, and crossbreds with fur mixed with these colors are found. Red foxes are born in spring; they are weaned a month later. The fox is active year-round; it can be seen mainly in the morning and afternoon. A traditional poultry thief, it varies its diet if necessary and feeds on small mammals or carrion, but also birds, insects, and fruit.
