White Daisy (Chrisanthemum leucanthemum)

Updated: Nov 5, 2024

This common flower grows abundantly in fields and along roadsides. It originates in southern Europe and Asia, but it has been here from colonial days. It does not fade quickly after plucking. It still serves its traditional purpose in telling - as little fingers pluck it apart - whether he or she "loves me" or "loves me not".

Farmers consider it a weed in their hayfields. Their complaint is justified but for everyone else, there is no more gay sight of a sunny June morning than a field of Daisies in full bloom.
